Bell First Rate
The Bell First Rate plan is the most common plan used by Canadians. For a fee of $4.95 consumers
receive 60 minutes of long distance in Canada if dialed between 6pm and 6am on weekdays or at
anytime on weekends. In addition, there is a network charge of $2.95 required for the privilege
of being a Bell customer.
Bear in mind:
- Bell’s $4.95 for the first 60 minutes works out to a rate of 8.3 cents compared to Durham
Telecom’s 7¢ rate that can be dialed at anytime
- Bell’s $4.95 is a minimum charge whether you use the 60 minutes or not
- Bell requires that you call on evenings or weekends
- Bell rate changes to 10 cents a minute in Canada after the first hour
- Bell rate changes to 20 cents a minute to U.S. after the first hour
